Bhartiya samaj Vikas Academy, an acclaimed Marathi organization has selected Mr. Iqbal Niyazi as one of the most illustrious personalities who influenced various spheres of life for his relentless endeavour to foster National integration through URDU DRAMA and THEATRE and his marvelous execution of burning social issues.

At a prestigious function in Dadar Matunga Cultural Hall, on August 13, Niyazi was felicitated with the “RASHTRIYA EKATMATA FELLOWSHIP”-2010 (Rajya Gaurav Puraskar) in presence of sovereign Writers, intellectuals, poets and journalists
The hall witnessed a thunderous ovation when Niyazi received a gold medal,memento and certificate. He has been a proud recipient of the “Maharashtra Lok Ratna Award” conferred on him last year by a Marathi group “ Lok Kalyan Seva Sanstha”.

Apart from being associated with teaching, Mr.Niyazi a playwright, Director, short story writer and journalist has rendered selfless services to URDU DRAMA and THEATRE for the last 30 years and bagged many national and state awards. Niyazi’s play
“ Yeh Kiska Lahoo Hai Kaun Mara?” condemning terrorist activities and the Train Bomb Blast of 2007 has successfully completed 60 shows and still showing.Besides, he has also composed poems and articles denouncing terrorism. Niyazi also has the rare distinction of being a member of Maharashtra State Secondary & Higher Secondary Board of Education and also handles the post of Enquiry Officer there.

Niyazi, who is also the creative director of “KIRDAAR ART ACADEMY” has staged more than 100 plays in Urdu and Hindi. He has conducted many theatre workshops, personality development and educational seminars & workshops. His play “AUR KITNE JALIYAN WALA BAUGH?” has earned nation wide acclaim .He is also endowed with National award by Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi, for the play which has been performed more than 900 times in different languages and bagged more than 300 awards, Three of Mr. Niyazi’s books on drama and theatre have been published in Urdu and Hindi and another three are under publication.
